The West Virginia Division of Highways is rehabilitating 19 bridges along Interstate 64, beginning at the Eugene A. Carter Memorial Bridge (also known as the Fort Hill Bridge) and ending where the Brooks Street on-ramp enters the highway.
Dozens of expansion joints will be replaced, a Latex Modified Concrete will be applied to bridge decks, barrier walls will be repaired, and a section of the cathodic protection system will be replaced. Four structure utilize the cathodic system, which is a technique used to control corrosion of metal in the bridge deck.

A contraflow lane traffic pattern will be utilized in the work zone at the end of the Eugene Carter Bridge, allowing the contractor to keep six lanes of traffic open while they repair the bridge deck. Expansion joint repairs will occur between the Bigley Avenue Interchange and Brooks Street. Travelers should expect nighttime lane and ramp closures. The project contract was awarded to Kokosing construction Company for $18,134,280. The project completion date is *October 28, 2015.
