08 MAR 01 Installation instructions for the WVDOT CADD Standards Barmenu 1) Copy/Extract the 'WVDOT2000' folder onto the 'C' drive of the computer. 2) Start MicroStation. 3) Write a new configuration varible for the Barmenu. a) Start by opening the "Configuration" window by going to: Workspace > Configuration > All (Alphabetical) > New... b) When the "New Configuration Varible" window opens, enter the below data: Varible: BARMENU New Value: C:\WVDOT2000\MENU\WV2000.MDF c) Click "OK" when complete to close the "New Configuration Varible" window. 4) Add the Barmenu MDL to the list of MDL applications. a) Modify the MS_MDL Configuration Varible by: double-clicking on the varible, and when the "Select Path for Visible MDL Applications" window opens, change the drive letter to "c", double-click on the "WVDOT2000" sub-directory, double-click on the "menu" sub-directory, then click "Add", and then click "Done". The sub-directory "c:\wvdot2000\menu\" should now be visible in the "Dircetory List" window of the "MS_MDLAPPS" Configuration Window. If it is not, then repeat the above procedure. b) Modify the MS_MDLAPPS Configuration Varible by: double-clicking on the varible, and when the "Select Path for Visible MDL Applications" window opens, change the drive letter to "c", double-click on the "WVDOT2000" sub-directory, double-click on the "menu" sub-directory, then click "Add", and then click the "Done" button when finished. The sub-directory "c:\wvdot2000\menu\" should now be visible in the "Directory List" window of the "MS_MDLAPPS" Configuration Window. If it is not, then repeat the above procedure. c) To make use of the WVDOT Fonts and Linestyles, add the below paths to the MS_SYMBRSC Configuration Varible: C:\WVDOT2000\resource_files\font.rsc C:\WVDOT2000\resource_files\roadyway.rsc To begin, start by double-clicking on the varible MS_SYMBRSC, change the drive letter to "c", double-click on the "WVDOT2000" sub-directory, then the "resource_files" sub-directory, then the file "font.rsc", then the file "roadway.rsc", then click the "Done" button when finished. The above path and filename data stipulated above should now appear in the "File List" window. If it is not, then repeat the above procedure. 5) When the configuration changes are complete, click the "OK" button, and exit the configuration window. When the alert window appears that asks: "Save changes to your configuration file, ..." click "Yes" to save the changes that were made. 6) To manually activate the WVDOT CADD Standards Barmenu, use one, or more, of the procedures listed below: a) Enter the following command in the Key-in box, MDL LOAD BARMENU b) Go to: Utilities > MDL Applications > scroll through the list of avaible MDLs until the "BARMENU" MDL is found, then load it. c) Add a 'hot-key' for the tool by going to: Workspace > Function Keys > provide activation key > Edit > When the Edit Key Definition window opens, enter "MDL LOAD BARMENU" into the box labeled "New", then click "OK". Then click "OK" to close the the "Function Keys" window. When the Alert window opens asking to "Save changes? [Yes] to save changes to file, ...", click "Yes". Now, when the hot-key is pressed, the tool will open. 7) To have the WVDOT CADD Standards Barmenu automatically load when MicroStation is started, use the following procedure: a) Go to: Workspace > Configuration > All (Alphabetical) > to the "MS_DGNAPPS" varible b) Add the below path to this varible: c:\wvdot2000\menu\barmenu.ma then click 'Done'. c) Then click the 'OK' in the Configuration window and click the 'Yes' button when the Alert window opens. d) Then next time MicroStation is started, the menu will automatically start. 8) For more information regarding the level structure, feature tables, West Virginia State Plane Coordinate System, and so on, refer to the files in the below sub-directory: C:\WVDOT2000\data_files /Steve Kimble /(304)558-2678
