The Division of Motor Vehicles Safety and Treatment Unit is responsible for establishing and providing oversight for a comprehensive safety and treatment program for driver’s convicted of or revoked for driving under the influence of legal or illicit substances. WV Legislative Code states that Community Behavioral Health Centers and other providers shall offer and operate the Program under agreement with the DMV and must meet all
State of West Virginia DUI Safety and Treatment Program Standards for Educational Curriculum, Treatment Services and Quality Assurance.

Legislative Rule requires the enrollment fee for Level I services be set at $400. This fee shall cover the provision of the Education Component (Level I) services. There may be additional costs for materials and testing/screening. This $400 fee does not cover the financial requirements of Level II and Level III services.
If you are experiencing financial difficulties, all WV Safety and Treatment Program Providers offer the State Indigent Program for those clients who are deemed eligible and meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Clients will need to inquire about Indigent Determination with their Safety and Treatment Provider.
