CHARLESTON, W.Va.
– DMV Commissioner Pat Reed is pleased to announce that
another service is now available online for the convenience of West Virginia
citizens. Attorneys can complete and pay for their West Virginia State
Bar Membership Photo ID Card application online at www.wvbar.org. Attorneys who reside in
West Virginia, and have a valid photo on file with the West Virginia Department
of Motor Vehicles, may choose to have their membership ID card mailed to them
directly or may pick it up in person at any West Virginia DMV office. The
receipt from the online transaction must be presented if picking it up at a DMV
office. According to Commissioner Reed, “DMV’s focus has
been, and will continue to be, excellent customer service, and adding this
transaction to our self-service portal provides yet another service to our
customers in a more convenient manner.”
Anita Casey, Executive Director, West
Virginia State Bar, also added, “Allowing attorneys to complete the application
for their membership ID card and pay online dramatically reduces the amount of
time needed to process a request. In many cases, attorneys are required
to have their photo ID card when visiting a jail. Having a way to quickly
request and receive their membership photo ID card is invaluable.”
If you are an attorney in need of a
membership ID card, you may submit your application online at www.wvbar.org or visit the Drivers section on
the West Virginia DMV’s Online Services Portal located at www.go.wv.gov/selfservice.
The new online service was developed
by the West Virginia State Bar in partnership with WV.gov.
