DMV Preparing for State Vehicle License Plate Reissuance

12/6/2018

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Commissioner Pat Reed announced today that the Division of Motor Vehicles has completed the first phase of the new state vehicle license plate reissuance, per House Bill 4015 from the 2018 Legislative Session.

In the coming weeks, state agencies will be notified when their new plates, titles, and registration cards are ready.  About half of all plates to be reissued will be released beginning this week, under the “State Vehicle Title, Registration, and Relicensing Project of 2018.”

House Bill 4015 requires all registrations of current state vehicles with green and white license plates to expire at midnight on December 31, 2018, and the new gold and blue plates to begin January 1, 2019.

According to Commissioner Reed, “DMV was happy to work with Fleet Management and Oasis this year to centralize our system of overseeing state vehicle issuance.  We are confident this will provide better accountability and reporting for all agencies involved with the state vehicle fleet.”
