Charleston, W.V. -- West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is reaching out to citizens with a reminder that inclement weather can impact skills tests, and other services.

Salvage inspections at the Morgantown location have been canceled for Monday, January 26, 2026. Other locations could have weather related impacts and guests are encouraged to call ahead before traveling to a DMV location. Many DMV services are available online, including drivers license and registration renewals.

“No matter which Division of Motor Vehicles regional office you visit in West Virginia, our customer service agents strive to treat you like a welcomed guest,” said Everett Frazier, Commissioner of DMV. “It is of utmost importance to us that our guests be safe.”

West Virginians can call (800) 642-9066 and out-of-state guests can call (304) 558-3900 before traveling into a DMV office to verify if skills tests or motorcycle tests may be postponed as their nearest DMV. It is a good idea to call if the weather is severe. Many DMV services, including drivers license and registration renewals, can also be completed online at dmv.wv.gov or at kiosks around the state.

“With snow and ice, you know to get your milk and bread ahead of time, and make sure your car is ready for winter driving,” said Frazier. “We take it a step further and ask that you call ahead if you plan to travel in specifically for a skills test. Again, what matters most is that our guests are safe.”
