Internal Job Postings
Please Note: Effective 12/11/17 DOH Postings will be posted for 7 Days. All other DOT Postings will be posted for 10 Days. Please review each posting to determine the correct down date.
Only current or former permanent-status employees are eligible to apply for an internal posting.
If you are not familiar with the requirements for applying for jobs listed in the on-line Job Vacancy Posting System, please read the information below before going to the Jobs Posting Bulletin.
West Virginia state law requires agencies to post vacant, permanent full-time positions a minimum of ten working days before the vacancy can be filled. The hiring agency may choose to fill the position with a current employee who has permanent status, reinstate a former employee or hire a candidate from a competitive employment register. To be eligible to apply for a posting, you must be a current or former state employee who was hired from a competitive register and successfully completed the probationary employment period. The advertised closing date on the job posting is the deadline for receiving applications from current or former employees with permanent status.
If you meet the above criteria and the minimum requirements for the posted position, you may submit an application form directly to the contact person shown on the posting.
In addition to considering qualified current or former employees, the hiring unit may request a certification of eligible candidates from the appropriate West Virginia Division of Personnel competitive eligibles list. The agency must hire from among the top ten or the ninetieth percentile of available names as certified by the Division of Personnel.
Information about tests is available online or from Division of Personnel job counselors. They can advise you if the job class listed for a vacancy posting is currently open to external applicants and how you may apply. You may speak with a job counselor by calling (304) 558-3950 ext. 503 or (304) 558-1237 TDD (for the hearing-impaired only).
