The written examination for an Asphalt Preservation Technician consists of the following areas in regards to chip seals, micro surfacing, thin overlays, and crack sealing:
- Fundamentals of Preservation
- Pavement Conditions and Treatment Selection
- Performance Characteristics
- Inspection and Best Practices
This exam is based on web-based training found in the
TC3 Course “Flexible Pavement Preservation Treatment Series.” A printed copy of the Certificate of Training from this course is required to be presented for registration on the day of the exam. There will be no class time for this exam. The exam is open book and open notes. The exam will be taken at a central location and be proctored. The exam may be taken on any date shown on the
calendar where an exam is scheduled, as long as the QA Schools Coordinator is notified in advance at QAschoolscoordinator@wv.gov. All participants will be required to furnish their own laptop or tablet to take the exam.
