Do I need any special equipment to use the online system?

If you have a computer with an internet connection and a laser printer, you already have everything you need. Your printer must be capable of printing on 65# paper and must be a laser printer to print temp tags. 

Do I need to install software on my computer?

No, the Vehicle Registration System is an internet based application. You will simply access the online system and login.

What special supplies will I need?

Temporary tags must be printed with a laser printer on heavy card stock pre-printed with a valid Inventory Control Number. Temporary tag paper isordered online directly through your account and shipped to the location of your choosing.

How do I sign up?

First, you will need to create a wv.gov account by visiting http://apps.wv.gov/accounts and then activate it via an email that you will be sent. Next, complete the sign up form and submit them to West Virginia Interactive. Once you receive an email that you have been granted access, you can add other users and begin using VRS!

How much does the system cost?

In addition to the existing $3.00 temp tag fee, the system will charge a fee for each completed transaction, which may be passed onto the customer buying the vehicle. This additional fee assists with funding the new online filing system and the amount of the fee depends on the type of transaction being completed as follows:

Temporary Tag stock will remain $3.00 each.

Transaction fees will be collected at the same time title, registration and sales tax fees are paid and they can be passed onto the customer similar to the existing statutory $3.00 temp tag fee.
