WV DMV announces over one million online vehicle transactions

3/19/2021

CHARLESTON, WV—Commissioner Everett Frazier of the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles announced today that DMV’s online services portal reached a major milestone in the month of February: over one million vehicle transactions completed!

“We are thrilled to pass that one million mark,” said Commissioner Frazier. “DMV continues to look for ways to make our services easier, more convenient, and accessible to customers. We have been adding services to our website, dmv.wv.gov, since April of 2014, and more and more customers are seeing the convenience of doing DMV business from the comfort and safety of their homes.”

According to Frazier, using the online services portal is quick and easy, and many customers choose to “skip the trip” and renew their vehicle registration online in under three minutes, rather than wait in line at an office. “All you need to have ready is your personal property tax receipt, your renewal form that you received in the mail (if you don’t have that-your title number and license plate number will do!) and your current insurance information.” Go to the WV DMV website and click on the online services banner at the top, and then vehicle services. The portal will guide you through the rest, and payment is handled via debit or credit card.

In addition to the tremendous success and sheer volume of online vehicle transactions, the DMV online services portal also handles driver services and has completed over 208,000 driver’s license renewals, and another 20,000 duplicate transactions as well.
