Southbound lanes of Interstate 79 will be closed, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, into Tuesday, August 18, 2026, for a deck overlay project on the Guy R. Hively Memorial Bridges near Elkview. Northbound lanes of I-79 will be closed, from 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026, into Wednesday, August 19, 2026, for the same project.
On Monday night, southbound traffic will detour at the Elkview exit (Exit 9), onto Frame Road, to US 119 South, then take US 119 to WV 114 at Big Chimney, and get back on I-79 at the Big Chimney exit (Exit 5).
On Tuesday night, northbound traffic will detour at the Big Chimney exit, take WV 114 to US 119 North, take US 119 North to Frame Road, and get back on I-79 at the Elkview exit.
