There will be partial lane closures on eastbound and westbound Interstate 64 at the Montrose Overpass Bridge from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., beginning Monday, February 16, 2026. These closures are necessary to install protective screening under the bridge in preparation for a bridge replacement project.
Montrose Overpass Project Details
- Scope: Replacement of the Montrose Drive Overpass Bridge over I-64, the bridge over First Avenue, and the bridge over Second Avenue in South Charleston.

“Our comprehensive long-term bridge management system has identified these three bridges as needing replacement,” said WVDOH State Highway Engineer Jake Bumgarner, P.E. “We decided it made sense to have one contractor do all three structures to better manage the project and minimize the impact on the traveling public.”
