West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) cleanup crews worked through the night to reopen one lane of WV 3 near the community of Sundial after the road was shut down due to a massive rockslide.

A rockslide closed the road about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026.

With the help of equipment from Alpha Metallurgical Resources to help break up the biggest of the boulders, WVDOH crews were able to reopen one lane by  Friday morning, July 31, 2026.

Crews hope to have both lanes open by the end of the day.
