Pavement preservation to begin Monday, May 4, 2026, on Charleston city streets

Microsurfacing preservation work is scheduled to begin Monday, May 4, 2026, on streets in the city of Charleston maintained by the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH).

Microsurfacing entails applying a thin layer of material on top of existing pavement to seal the surface and extend its life.

The work is part of a project to improve major WVDOH-maintained thoroughfares through Charleston.

Work includes microsurfacing sections of Washington Street and Greenbrier Street.
