Primary ObjectiveEliminate impaired driving through proactive planning and designated drivers.
How to Report Impaired DriversContact local law enforcement immediately if a drunk driver is spotted on the road.

“Drunk driving can have a range of consequences, including the possibility of causing a traumatic crash," warned Amy Boggs, Division Manager of the GHSP. "Help set up your team, your friends, family, and other partygoers for a night of success by making sure no one drives themselves home after drinking.”

Host a Winning Super Bowl Party

If you are welcoming guests into your home to watch the big game, take active steps as a host to protect your friends, family, and community:

  • Plan the Menu: Prepare plenty of protein-rich snacks, hearty food, and non-alcoholic drink alternatives for guests and designated drivers.
  • Establish Rides Early: Ask your guests to formally designate their sober drivers well before kickoff.
  • Pace the Party: Encourage guests who choose to drink to pace themselves, consume food, and balance their intake with plenty of water.
  • Protect Minors: Never serve alcohol to minors. If an underage individual drinks at your party and drives, you can be held legally liable for any damage, injury, or death that results.

Be the Designated Driver (The Night's MVP)

Accepting the role of designated driver means you are the anchor of your team's safety for the night. Keep these guidelines in mind:

  • Total Commitment: Dedicate yourself to a 100% sober evening. Enjoy the food, the game, the company, and the non-alcoholic beverage selections.
  • Be Assertive: Your positive influence keeps others safe. If you see someone who has been drinking attempting to drive, step in, take their keys, and arrange a secure way home for them.
  • Lead the Play: Remember, you are the night's quarterback—others are relying entirely on you to cross the finish line safely.
