On Thursday, February 26, 2026, West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) bridge engineers ordered the immediate closure of the bridge on WV 62 over Three Mile Creek in Mason County. The closure follows a routine safety inspection that identified structural integrity concerns.
Inspection Findings and Resolution Plan
During the inspection, engineers discovered significant deterioration in the cut stone bridge abutments located beneath the short-span structure. To restore connectivity as quickly as possible, the WVDOH is moving forward with a two-phase solution.

- Short-Term Solution: Engineers are finalizing plans to install a temporary bridge at the site. This will allow traffic to resume while a permanent replacement is designed.
