WVDOH closing two eastbound lanes on I-64 Fort Hill Bridge in Charleston

West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) bridge crews are closing the eastbound middle lane and fast lane on Interstate 64 across the Fort Hill Bridge to conduct previously scheduled drone mapping to look for potential pavement flaws that could lead to potholes. The closure is scheduled for approximately 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Work is being done at night to minimize the impact to the traveling public.
 
Several holes have developed in the bridge deck over the past several weeks, leading to periodic closures to patch the concrete. WVDOH bridge crews are currently doing preventative patching on the span, looking for areas that could cause potholes in the near future.
 
The bridge is scheduled to have the entire deck replaced in 2027, but the WVDOH intends to do preventative patching now before awarding a contract this fall for more extensive patching and an asphalt overlay to protect the bridge surface until the span can redecked.
