Richlands Interchange

The Richlands Interchange project is being considered to relieve traffic congestion and provide improved access to and from Interstate 64 for the Lewisburg area. Adding an interchange at the proposed US 60 or CR 60/12 locations would provide a vital link to US 219 at the southern end of Lewisburg. To date, this initiative has been conducted as a planning-level study.

Conceptual Alternatives

The study evaluated four primary options for the new interchange. Alternatives 1 through 3 also include the construction of a Park and Ride facility to support multimodal transportation in the region.

1. Alternative 1: Construction of a diamond interchange at the US 60 crossover outside the existing right-of-way.
2. Alternative 2: Construction of a diamond interchange at the US 60 crossover inside the existing right-of-way.
3. Alternative 3: Construction of a diamond interchange at the CR 60/12 crossover outside the existing right-of-way.
4. Alternative 4: No-Build alternative.

Public Involvement and Status

An Informational Public Workshop was held on June 28, 2012, at the WV Army National Guard Lewisburg Readiness Center in Maxwelton, WV. This session allowed the community to review traffic patterns and discuss conceptual plans with WVDOH representatives.

Status: The formal public commenting period for this project phase ended on July 28, 2012.
