Operation R.I.P. Potholes update: We’re patching when the sun shines

3/8/2024

Rain over much of West Virginia limited pothole patching on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, but West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) crews in the Kanawha Valley, southern and north central West Virginia are patching whenever the sun shines.

Gov. Jim Justice and the WVDOH have been taking advantage of unseasonably warm weather to get a head start on the spring pothole patching season. As crews are out patching, they are finding that some stretches of road may have numerous potholes to patch, while some stretches may have none.

Since Gov. Justice and the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) announced Operation R.I.P. Potholes on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, WVDOH road crews have patched 33,628 potholes along 4,233 miles of road.
