West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) work crews are on the site of a massive rockslide on WV 3 in Raleigh County.
The slide occurred on WV 3 near the community of Sundial about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Alpha Metallurgical Resources sent equipment to break up the largest boulders on Thursday, and WVDOH dump trucks were hauling away rock. Work crews hoped to have one lane reopen by the end of the evening Thursday.
The WVDOH will provide updates on the slide as more information becomes available.
