The slow lane of Interstate 64 East will be closed between mile markers 54.8 and 55.6 from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2024, and Tuesday, May 14, 2024, to make repairs to the Montrose Drive overpass bridge. The Montrose Drive exit ramp and Kanawha Turnpike on ramp will also be closed.
I-64 East will be completely closed between mile markers 52.2 and 53.8 from 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, through 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, for additional bridge repairs.
The bridge was hit by an excavator being hauled by a tractor-trailer in February, causing damage to several beams. Repair crews will be adding a new support beam to the bridge.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured at Exit 54 (US 60 and Jefferson Road), onto US 60 East and back onto the Montrose Drive on ramp during construction. State Police, South Charleston Police, and West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) personnel will be stationed at traffic lights and intersections to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible.
