The role of the Human Resources Division is to provide personnel support services to the Department of Transportation. Its primary function is to hire, classify and compensate an appropriate number of employees deemed necessary for the agency to accomplish its statutory mission. In addition to this primary function, the Division administers various programs related to the agency workforce, such as training and development, occupational safety, workers compensation, and drug and alcohol testing.
Finally, the Division is responsible for the administration and maintenance of human resource related policies that assist in the management of the workforce, as well as numerous other initiatives that are necessary to ensure the agency has a competent, diverse, and viable complement of employees.
